Fourth Form House run at Cranleigh School, 2017

Today the Foundation is central to our strategy to welcome children and their families to Cranleigh who come from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.

Donations are the lifeblood of the Cranleigh Foundation. We have been fortunate to have had the support of donors since the Foundation began in 2007. Individual donations (excluding legacies) have ranged between a number of pennies to £450,000.

The need

As we have shown over the course of the Cranleigh Foundation Week, there are too many children whose lives are blighted by tragedy and circumstance beyond their control. COVID-19 exposed the inequalities of our society and the short and long-term effects of the pandemic have hit education and children and young people hard.

Working with partner organisations such as the RNCF SpringBoard Foundation, Eastside Young Leaders Academy and the Surrey Virtual School, the Cranleigh Foundation offers a lifeline to children are affected by adverse family conditions.

Our plan

We want to embed Foundationer places into the fabric of Cranleigh to make our community more inclusive. Our ambition is to raise an endowment of £10m by 2029 which would fund 10 Foundationer places in perpetuity. This will keep the capacity to offer life-changing opportunities for children at Cranleigh’s heart.

An endowment of approximately £1m would fund a seven-year boarding place at Cranleigh Prep and Cranleigh School to include additional costs (e.g. uniform, kit, trips).

Together, we can change the lives of children who have suffered incredibly tragic circumstances in their young lives. We are grateful for the generosity of the Cranleigh community which has supported the School for generations. We have already raised £2.92m which is nearly the equivalent of three Foundationer places. We just have £7.08m to raise in seven years.
