Cranleigh gives a child-focussed setting to allow all pupils to thrive as well as having the pastoral knowledge and experience to nurture children. Staff receive regular training in caring for candidates who have suffered trauma, dislocated family backgrounds, and separation issues.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Cranleigh has a wealth of experience in supporting children to navigate these teenage years. Our House system forms the foundation upon which our pupils\u2019 wellbeing and sense of community is built. There is a high staff to pupil ratio, and House staff have a detailed overview of every aspect of a pupil\u2019s school career. Tutors, teachers, matrons and prefects form \u2018layers\u2019 to catch problems and there is a team of mental health first-aiders.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In addition, we have systems in place to monitor the emotional health and wellbeing of each pupil. For example, we have developed our own online pastoral tracking module and use the AS (Affective Social) Steer programme to identify issues as they arise.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

There is a regular system in place to train teachers and House staff as mental health first aiders. All Housemasters and Housemistresses have had training in supporting children with adverse childhood experiences. There are also counsellors based at the School\u2019s medical centre who offer both in-person and online sessions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
